Different Message
How do we celebrate our diversity while at the same time embrace unity and oneness. Is it possible? Is it necessary? Can the state of today's world shed light or darkness upon this vital question?
New Poem
What ignites conflict between families, friends, communities and nations? One cause is the intolerance for what makes us different matched with the rigid desire to have humans all fall into line based on one single belief or power. Science does claim that we humans are 99% the same in our genetic makeup. We could imagine that this common ground would instill a sense of understanding and reverence for all. It appears it doesn’t. We find ourselves excluding and including based on that 1% difference and add to the 1% all kinds of made up reasons to cast certain people out while allowing certain others in. Skin color, gender, religious beliefs, economic status, nationality are key building blocks for dividing and conquering, segregating and subjecting. This poem wrestles with this confounding and destructive use of difference and sameness. Please click on arrow to listen to poem ‘Different’.

Just The Two Of Us
A couplet is featured here based on a traditional two line, rhyming form. As with the haiku, the couplet echoes the underlying message of this specific post.
